Terible Accident in Doha, Qatar

Dear All,

I'm sad to say that our Company car in Doha, Qatar had met with a terrible accident occur between the DRIVER, CAR, and the PILLAR.

This happen in our apartment in Al Sadd Street!
Is all happen around 0900 hour (GMT +3) while we was trying to reverse out the car after washing the car .... BANG! BANG! BANG!

The process in QATAR to get this car to be repaired ain't easy .... becuase it requir the permission from the MINISTRY OF INTERIOR (Police Department, TRAFFIC DEPARTMENT) confirm on the accident and verfied before we can actually send to workshop for repaired.

Here I list down the step ....
Step 1: Get a AUTHORISATION LETTER from the COMPANY (the NAME listed in the PINK SLIP) with DRIVER, CAR, LOCATION of ACCIDENT and ETC detail first
Step 2: Get to Police Station to log a report on this issues
Step 3: Check with insurance see if is claimable ...
Step 4: Send to work-shop to check the cost of repaired ...
Step 5: Send the quatation to HQ for advise ..
Step 6: Work out a way for the driver to compensate the repair cost ..

Siah!!! This is gonna cost us agian, NO CAR .....
Thank god that the Driver is alright ... and nobody is hurt except the car only ..

Cheers,
Alex

Sealine, Southern Qatar

Dear All,

As promise a update on my Qatar Exploring during Eid al-Fitri Break from 30th September to 4th October 2008. Instead going all the way to Southern part of Qatar; we only manage to proceed 50KM South of Qatar due to some technical problem whereby nobody is clear about the road down Southern of Qatar, becuase from Sealine down wards the road is actually dessert trail. Thus we decided not to go till we have proper GPS Navigation in the future, then we will explore Southern part.

Sealine is located 50KM from Doha. Sealine is beach area, it has a beach resort and a public beach area. Beside beach, nearby it has Sand Dune where All-Terrain Vehicle or 4x4 lover will have there show their skill driving in sandy area. A short video clip is attached to give you an idea of Sand Dune Activities.

I personnly love the Sand Dune activities, I never tried the Sandy Mountain yet but have driven in the sandy flat ground and learned some great lesson over driving in dessert/sandy area. In-order not getting your 4x4 stuck in sandy area, firstly you have to lover your car tyre pressure to 10PSI then only you start your journey in sandy area to prevent yourself stuck in the sandy area, secondly use 4L to gain more speed instead 4H for power .... This are some of the basic knowledge before heading to sandy area/dessert driving ...

Right now, it just matter of time I will arrange a trip to Sealine again for the Sand Dune with the company car and rent a ATV and try on it .... I just can't wait to go only .. but just can't do it right now due to financial tight in Doha now! perhaps will give a try somewhere during winter time ...

Well good news .... weather in Doha is changing towards winter spirit; now the Hottest during day will only reach 36 celcius where as will go down as low as 26 celcius night time. Praise the Lord ... pray that I will get to celebrate Chirstmas this year in Winter ...........

Least but not last, I'll be heading back to Kuala Lumpur real soon ... YES!YES!YES!

Cheers.

Northern Qatar Road Trip ......

Hi All,

Yesterday we begin our Journey to the North around 10AM from Villa 22, Muhibbah Engineer Co. ... we have joining us together is Myself, Bob, Frank and Pang setting our heart to the North of Qatar; but once again we set our heart to high and Qatar actually let us down again!

The tourism infrastructure is not there, whereby road sign is not complete, there isn't much destination to go and worse is there isn;t any sign reaching a such important sigh seeing location. But thank god we manage to find a those places but still very disappointing.

Our first location to the North was a small town located 30KM north of Doha City called Al Khor. Al Khor means "sea on three sides" in arabic. Al Khor is formelly a pearl fishing area In Al Khor there is a small fishing village, a luxury hotel called Al Sultan Beach Resort (formally a Qatar Sultan Pallace), and a Beach area.

Next we proceeded 20KM north from Al Khor to reach Ras Laffan, Industry City. Too bad Ras Laffan is restricted area for public, thus we didn't manage to visit this place, but next we headed to Al Ghariya which took us around 1 hour drive from Ras Laffan to a beach resort. We never visited the beach resort but just hang around nearby beach. Seeing the Arabian Gulf and visited beach area nearby dessert! Beach side in Qatar is very much different to seaside back in Malaysia .. why? there isn't COCONUT TREE here ... just plain sand .. (DESSERT)

Our next destination after Al Ghariya, we by-past another small town called Madinat al Shamal. Al Shamal is the most North in Qatar. Before reaching Al Zubara for the Al Aubara Fort. While we were heading to Al Zubara, we found something intersting; CAMEL in the dessert ....
Thus we visited the CAMEL in the dessert ......
