My holiday destination in Qatar duing Hari Raya Break!
Hi All,
This is my plan on spending my time off here in Qatar for next week during Hari Raya Offday!
We will be heading to northern part of Qatar like Ras Laffan, Al Ghariyah, Ar Ruwaye, Ash Shamli, Az Zuburah, Al Jumaliyah and Bi'r Zekrit for the second day of Hari Raya and as for the Third day of Hari Raya will be the southern part of Qatar, where we will be going to Al Wakrah, Umm Said and Khor A. Unaid.
Here are some information of each location which I will visit soon ...
Ras Laffan Industrial City.
Ras Laffan Industrial City (RLC) is located 80 kms north east of Doha, covering 106 square kilometers. The city hosts an industrial port and several industrial facilities. It provides integrated services to businesses including modern infrastructure, security, fire and safety section, medical center, an environment section and support services area.
A management team appointed by Qatar Petroleum runs RLC. This team works closely in co-ordination with operating companies and governmental bodies and is responsible for developing the land use plan of RLC and providing the services. The team is also responsible for regular monitoring and regulation of the land and marine environment.
During the past year Qatar has continued its climb towards becoming the world leader in the production and export of LNG and at the same time continued along the way to becoming the world leader in the production of Gas to Liquids products (GTL). A world scale gas processing plant is under construction, and others are in planning and/or design.
Ras Laffan Port is considered one of the largest LNG export facilities in the world. The 8.5 sq km port cost more than US$1 billion and became fully operational in 1996 with LNG export capacity of 30 million metric tons per annum.
Well I tried my best to provide more information about those places that I'm going to visit, but there isn't much travel information found in the Internet! I will try to get as much information when I do travel to those places I mention above. Below, I provided the Qatar Map, those highlighted with ornage color are the place located North and South of Qatar that I'm going to visit.
Till then I will update further information if I manage to find in the Internet ....
BTW .... You are less than 50 days till becoming officially Mrs. Lai-Kuan Mei Yean, Charmaine. Congratulation .....

Proud ti be a Malaysian!
Who says Malaysia made car is not good?
Well at least we can see that Proton & Perodua cars are found available in Qatar's market! Yes, I do some Proton Gen 2, Proton Wira and Proton Waja on the road here...
Truely some of the Malaysian I met here is using Proton cars instead of other brand of car. What I have here is the billboard for the Proton and Perodua advertistment I found when fulling up the company car in Doha.
Cheers,
Alex

A Gadget I brought to pampered myself while staying in Doha
Dear Reader!
I may knwo that my blog is abit bored these days... nothing much happening! Especially that this is slowly becoming a recipe/cooking blog for posting couple of cooking stuff... guess what; this is what I'm doing in Doha .... cook breakfast, lunch, dinner, and supper ..... trying not to eat outside to save AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE!!
Well, just a quick update on the new GADGET I just brought last Thursday in VIRGIN MEGASTORE, VILLAGGIO that costed me QR 461.00 some where RM450.00 which i always see in Kuala Lumpur and never dream of buying it, well I did it in Doha. All thanks to my saving from my monthly allowance given every month: I manage to save QR 500 and spend it on that new gadget!
It is a ACCESORIES for my lovely IPOD TOUCH! Is a speaker where you cna attach it on to my IPOD to listen music, sync music and charge the IPOD! COOOL
This thing may look small and not powerfull ... but I tell u ...sound is just incredible for a small thing like this ..... Now that I can play music loud in the hall, room and even toilet ..... in kitchen as well ..... becuase it can be powered by BATTERY!!! Beside using it with my IPOD, I can attach it to my notebook and any other electronic item that has 3.5mm audio jack .... incredible.

My wondeful ABC Soup
My second SOUP in DOHA!
This round I had ABC soup, greatly served with CHICKEN instead of PORK RIBS.
Before start cooking or boiling the ABC soup, I have to prepare some ingredient like Potatoes, Carrot, Chicken, Onion, Hot Water and Pot.
Firstly I have to gather all ingredient, wash it, cut the potatoes and carrot into small pieces and chicken as well and wash the onion. Secondly, boil water using the pot ... wait till the water is boiled then next thing is to throw everything I have prepared into the pot to boil between 1 hour to 4 hour with slow fire; remember the longer hour you cooked the soup .. the tastier it will be ... (make sure not over cooked) After cooking it for almost 4 hour with slow fire, my soup is finally ready to served with white rice.
Cheers!

7th of September 2008, Sunday; 2133 hour (GMT +3)
Dear Blog,
This is some update what happen past 1 week, I remembered I was talking to Li Lin while she is drivign back from her work place; our usual routine where either I will call her nor she will call me sometime around 1730 hour till 1830 hour (GMT +8) every Monday till Friday for the pass 1 whole year already ... we will just talk and mumble about our work, complait and all sort of stuff we will talk. Just about that, couple days back she challenge me to cook steam salted chicken. Guess what happen! success eventually, I followed the step by step she told me; the result was just fantastic.
How I did?
Step 1: Marinate the chicken with salt (1 1/2 tea spoon of salt)
Step 2: Let the salt sock awhile together with the chicken
Step 3: Heat up the wok wit water till it boil
Step 4: Place the marinated chicken inside the wok for steam - 15 to 20 minute
Step 5: Ready to served with White Rice.
Simply the best and easy!
Then after that day, I was talking with my aunt via my cousin using MSN Messenger; she thought me how to cook couple of dishes like Soy Souce Chicken, Soy Souce Chicken with Ginger and Fish & Chip. So, today I successfully cooked one of the dishes she teaches me, which is Soy Souce Chicken with Ginger... not bad! only that the chicken needs to be cook longer, need more soy souce and ginger.
bravo to myself .... from only knows how to fried egg, cook instant noodle and boiled rice; now that I know how to cook a few simple dished thanks to Li Lin's support. Next mission is to boiled soup from the ready pack herbal soup that I requested my uncle to bring it to Doha for me .... Guess tomorrow I will try ... All the best to myself ....
Another great news, eventually 3 week ago; I had to ask my uncle to bring my Ipod Touch back to Kl to send for warranty (my brother will do it) after shortly 3 weeks only, my lovely Ipod Touch transformed into a new unit ... Thanks to the Apple Inc. Now that I have a brand new Ipod Touch (everything is shinny and just GREAT)
Last but not least .... I would love to give thanks to mightly lord for letting all this great and wonderful thing happen to me. Praise The Lord!
Simply the best,

Merdeka Celebration in Doha, Qatar
Dear Everybody,
Welcome again to my blog! Well some update what have been done lately; recently I were present in 2 separate event help by Malaysian in Doha.
First event was Merdeka Celebration held by Muhibbah in Villa 22; where were all gathered as Malaysian to celebrate this wonderful day on Merdeka, 31st August 2008; embark the 51st Celebration of Malaysia Independent day since the year 1957 from the British Government. Me, Amir and Hamid were there to witness this celebration adjourn with food, games and presentation from many different types of people like Nepali, Pinoy, Bangladeshi, Pakistani, Indian and least but not last Malaysian.
Second event was also Merdeka Celebration but held by Malaysia Embassy in Doha, Qatar. We were all invited to come gather and celebrate Merdeka in the embassy; we have gotten a great chance to fellow Malaysian that is working here, doing business here, even student that is studying here and etc;
Eventually this is my first exprience in visiting Malaysia Embassy cum celebrating in oversea; not counted other time visited embassy/high com in Singapore, Indonesia and Nepal. This is totally different, becuase only located in a small banglow lots unlike in Medan, Indonesia .. was located in a big piece of land .. so has to Singapore as well ....
According to my calculation ... today embark the exact 1 month (30 day) staying in Oversea all by my own. This is the longest time I'm away from home; glad I'm just miss home a lot ..expecially the lcoal food, grand'moms cooking, mom's cooking ... I just miss all those food back in Malaysia .. but I should be thankful, though I may seems to be very far from home ... but in Doha .. I'm still able to find myself ROTI CANAI, ROTI TELUR, ROTI PISANG and NASI LEMAK .. it may be a little bit expensive; but having them once awhile ... I would say worth the money!
Lastly, I would like to just give thanks and give praise to the LORD who has protected me all this time in this strange place.
Praise The Lord,
Alex Tan
